WSM’s Tony Haynes won the ACC Sports Journal award for Best Color Analyst. |
The NC State Men’s Basketball team made a late season run to put themselves in the NCAA Tournament for 2005, winning two games in March Madness. While calling the games for the team, Wolfpack Sports Marketing’s Tony Haynes earned a little post-season magic of his own.
The ACC Area Sports Journal selected Haynes as the Best Color Analyst in the ACC for the 2004-2005 season. A panel of media, fans and university representatives voted on the awards. Voting for the ACC Sports Journal awards takes place at the conclusion of the regular season.
A veteran winner of this award, Haynes calls color for the Wolfpack on the radio. In addition to his on-air duties, Haynes serves as Editor for gopack.com, the official Web site for NC State athletics.
“Like all the teams I cover, no one player deserves all the credit when he or she receives individual recognition,” said Haynes. “The same can be said in this case. Without the great contributions made by all the members of the fabulous Wolfpack Sports Marketing team, I would not be given the tools and support that are needed to do my job effectively. So this particular honor is truly a reflection of the great efforts made by everyone on the winning team at WSM.”
First published in August 1977, the ACC Sports Journal “has evolved into one of the most successful, longest-running and best-selling college sports magazines” in the industry.
