Wild Cards Prepare for Gimme the Mike! Playoff Show

Half of the competitors in Verizon SuperPages Presents FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike! have gone home already, and five have secured a spot in the finals. Now five contestants who are still alive, thanks to the Gimme the Mike! viewing audience, are getting a second chance to land a spot in the live finale.
The Wild Card Playoff episode of FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike! airs tonight, Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at 7:30pm. The show will broadcast live from the BTI Center in downtown Raleigh, and the five Wild Cards, chosen by viewers online at www.fox50.com, will sing for the ultimate Wild Card vote.
Each week during FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike! series, the public voted to crown one Wild Card from among the three contestants not selected by the judges for the finals. FOX 50 announced the Wild Card winner each week on WRAL’s 10pm News on FOX 50 after the Thursday episode of Gimme the Mike!
The Wild Card contestants, who will sing again in hopes of winning the audience’s overall vote, are: Lauren Wenick of Raleigh, Meghann Flores of Dudley, Camiel Ferrell of Garner, Bobby Caddell of Durham, and Jenny Guse of Durham.
The Wild Card Playoff winner will be determined solely by an online audience vote. Voting will be open Tuesday night, May 24th, immediately following the Wild Card Playoff episode from 8pm until midnight. Viewers can log on to www.fox50.com to vote.
The Ultimate Wild Card Winner will be announced live during the Wednesday night finale and will then take the stage to go head-to-head with the five finalists chosen by the judges. All six will compete for the Gimme the Mike! grand prize.
The live one-hour season finale of Gimme the Mike! will take place on Wednesday, May 25th at 7pm, right before the season finale of American Idol. One Gimme the Mike! finalist who wins the vote of the judges will win the grand prize. The season finale event will also feature live performances from some special musical guests.

Judges Choose Fifth Finalist on Last Regular Episode
On last week’s Gimme the Mike!, Barron Maness of Pinehurst became the fifth competitor to advance to the finals by winning the judges’ vote. Maness is a Credit Manager for a financial institution and began singing in public at age 5. |
