Valentine’s Day brought an especially sweet gift to the patients at Duke Children’s Hospital. MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM raised a record amount in its 12th Annual Radiothon for the Duke Children’s Hospital, which took place during Valentine’s week. MIX raised a staggering $918,786 in just 3 ½ days, the largest amount raised in the history of the event.
The radiothon kicked off on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 and ended on Thursday, February 16th with a live grand total announcement at 7pm. Bill Jordan & Sheri Logan from “Bill & Sheri In The Morning” broadcast live from Duke Children’s Hospital each day, 6am to 11pm, filling the airwaves with heartwarming interviews from staff, patients and families.
Many other MIX staffers worked hard over the course of the event, manning phone banks, producing pieces for the air and sitting behind the microphone.

“I am humbled by this year’s Radiothon,” said WRAL-FM Vice President & General Manager Ardie Gregory. “There was a connection that took place between the MIX staff, the hospital staff, the patients and the families that falls into the category of ‘magical’ – you could feel it in the air. If you want a definition for Dream Team, this was it!”
Thanks to all who gave so generously to help the kids at Duke. Each and every contribution makes a difference.
