WRAL-TV5 and WRAL-DT To Air Entire NCAA Basketball Tournament for Sixth Consecutive Year!
|
For the sixth year in a row, WRAL-TV and WRAL-DT will offer college basketball fans a chance to watch all 63 games of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. WRAL’s 2006 “March Madness” coverage begins on March 16 at 12:00 noon and will continue through the NCAA Finals on April 3.
WRAL-TV and WRAL-DT will take advantage of digital television’s multiple channel capabilities to broadcast up to sixteen tournament games per day between the two local stations. WRAL-TV5 will broadcast the primary game of local interest, while WRAL-DT will use its multiple channel capabilities to simultaneously carry all four games taking place at any given time.
Basketball fans can watch the additional games for free over the air on WRAL-DT channels 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4. Viewers with Time Warner Digital Cable can watch the games on channels 256, 257, 258 and 259 and those with Cox Digital Cable can view the games on channels 150, 151, 152 and 153.
Digital television technology makes multi-channel broadcasting possible, allowing up to four standard definition channels to be transmitted simultaneously on the digital station. While multicasting, WRAL-DT will be unable to broadcast in high definition. However, early round tournament games available in high definition can be seen on Time Warner Digital Cable channels 254 or 255. Please visit WRAL.com for information on the NCAA Tournament and instructions on how to watch every single game.
