We Have A Weiner, Er, Winner
|
Over the last couple of weeks Pelican fans have been busy sending in their suggestions for a new hot dog at Coastal Federal Field. The “Name Your Dog” contest brought in a massive amount of emails with ingredients for their favorite franks. In the end there was one recipe for success that won over the hearts and appetites of the Pelicans front office staff.
And the winner is….the “Dog Ole” submitted by Jaime McElveen with special consideration to Paula Jean. Both entered separate suggestions and the Pelicans decided to combine both, making a hot dog which is topped with nacho cheese, salsa, guacamole and lettuce.
These hot dogs are big news in Myrtle Beach, even capturing the attention of the local paper. Click here to see Sun News‘ Russ Lane’s story “Who Let the DOGS out?” from the Wed, April 19th editiion of the paper. |
The dog, which features a mix and match of Mexican style toppings will be sold at Pelicans home games throughout the 2006 season.
Aside from the hot dog contrived in the contest, the Pelicans are proud to announce that they will be selling the “Francoeur (Frankies) Frank” and the “Bird Dog” at all home games as well. The “Frankies Frank” includes chili, cheese, and french fries. “The Bird Dog,” which is a hot dog with chili, slaw, and kraut was actually a popular entry into the “Name Your Dog Contest.”
A special thanks to all of the fans that took the time to submit their unique hot dog recipes. Some of the suggestions including toppings as strange as peanut butter, marshmallows, pineapple, caramel, feta cheese, and thousand island dressing. Enjoy Baseball’s favorite fare at Coastal Federal Field all summer long!
