Bulls Season Draws to a Rainy Close |
Rain drenched the Durham Bulls last home games and a wet end to the 2006 season. |
Tropical Storm Ernesto brought the Durham Bulls 2006 season to a premature end at home by washing out the double-header against the Columbus Clippers on Thursday, August 31st. Because the meeting was the last home game for the Bulls, the games were not made up.
“It’s disappointing to end the season this way, but you can’t control the weather,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “Despite losing three games to rain, this season will be our second highest paid attendance ever recorded. I can’t thank our fans enough for their tremendous support.”
Rain Check Fans with individual tickets to games on Wednesday, August 30th or Thursday, August 31st can redeem their tickets in person beginning on Tuesday, September 5th for a ticket voucher covering any home game in 2007. People who had group outings scheduled for either of these two dates should have their group leader call their Durham Bulls ticket representative or the box office at 956-BULL beginning on Tuesday, September 5th. |
The Bulls traveled to Norfolk for more dismal weather for the last few games of the season ending with a 64-78 record for 2006. But even with the Bulls coming up short on the scoreboard, fans still flocked to watch their favorite team, and enjoy fun summer outings with family and friends.
