WRAL-TV Wins RTNDAC Awards for Recent Work – Capitol Broadcasting Company

The Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas (RTNDAC) recently presented their annual awards on Saturday, October 7, 2006, in Charlotte. WRAL-TV brought home several honors in the television awards competition.

WRAL-TV picked up the following RTNDAC First Place awards:

Special Report: “Stormtrack 2005” (A hurricane preview special produced by Stephanie Beck and post-produced by John Cox)
Political General: “NC House Speaker Investigation” (A series of reports by Cullen Browder & Gil Hollingsworth)
Documentary: “Paper Thin Promise” (Produced by Clay Johnson, Jay Jennings, Mariana Jacob, & Lynda Loveland)

WRAL-TV also earned a Silver Place award:

Special Report: “The Big Gamble” (A lottery special produced by Michelle Fauver and directed by Mick Evans)

The awards were presented during the RTNDAC’s annual conference in Charlotte. The presentation took place at Hance Auditorium on the campus of Johnson & Wales University.

The RTNDAC has moved their annual awards presentation to the fall, beginning this year. Therefore, two sets of awards were presented in 2006. WRAL-TV also won several honors at the April 8th presentation.
