Wake Up With an Old Friend at The New 99.9 Genuine Country |
WCMC now has a morning show with Steve Harmon at the wheel. |
Starting Wednesday, October 18, 2006, there’s a new way to wake up in North Carolina. No matter how grumpy you feel in the morning, you just might have some fun with The New 99.9 Genuine Country Morning Show.
Steve Harmon has joined The New 99.9 Genuine Country as On-Air Morning Talent, weekdays from 6am – 10am.
Harmon brings over 20 years of radio industry experience to the table, beginning his career at WLOE in Eden, NC; WFLB in Fayetteville, NC; WBT and WLVK in Charlotte, NC. From there Steve was called to the legendary KPLX in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, and most recently worked at KFWR in Fort Worth, TX.
Harmon has received many awards during his career which include the Country Music Association Major Market DJ of the Year and Billboard Magazine DJ of the Year. Harmon is a lifetime member of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
“Steve has a terrific knowledge of morning radio and genuine love of country music,” noted Joe Wade Formicola, Operations Manager/Program Director for The New 99.9 Genuine Country. “His background both on and off the air, made him an ideal candidate for Capitol Broadcasting.”
“I look forward to ACC Basketball, Durham Bulls Baseball and well, a paycheck might come in handy, too,” commented Steve Harmon. “I love that 99.9 plays today’s new country and honors the stuff we grew up listening to in North Carolina like Waylon and Willie. Perhaps somebody can give me the inside scoop on where to find those 5 pound bass again!”
Steve Harmon is married to Becky and has one son, Graham. Harmon is an avid sports fan, a Category 5 bicyclist and an equestrian in the National Cutting Horse Association.
Steve Harmon is joined by WRAL-TV’s news reporter, Cullen Browder, who is anchoring morning news for The New 99.9 Genuine Country, and WRAL-TV WeatherCenter meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.
