Bulls & Durham Public Schools Release 2007 Calendar
|
The Durham Bulls have once again joined forces with Durham Public Schools to raise funds for the arts with a calendar of student artwork. |
The Durham Bulls, in conjunction with the art teachers of the Durham Public Schools, released the second annual “Art of Baseball” calendar for 2007. The calendar, featuring artwork from students in the Durham Public Schools, is produced by the Bulls and sold by the schools to raise funds for the art departments.
“It’s wonderful that baseball motivates these aspiring artists,” said Durham Bulls GM Mike Birling. “This is a special opportunity to use the sport of baseball to promote art in our schools.”
Hundreds of students from grades K-12 submitted artwork for the calendar in April 2006 with each student receiving a free ticket to a Bulls game this past season. The students with the winning submissions were honored in a pre-game ceremony on the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in May.
The calendars cost $10 each. To place an order, call Mary Casey, DPS Director of K-12 Arts Education, at (919) 560-3721.
