At Bat for Humanity at the Durham Bulls helped raise the funds that built a house for a local Durham family. |
Thanks to help from the Durham Bulls, a Durham family has a new home. Last summer, At Bat for Habitat raised over $5,000 at the ballpark, to help the students of the Fuqua Business School of Business at Duke University buld a house for a local family in need.
The house is now complete and will be dedicated on Sunday, April 15th.
The House That Fuqua Built began in 2006 as a leadership development and community service partnership. Students worked with several full-time Habitat for Humanity construction experts every Wednesday and Saturday beginning Nov 4, 2006, until the house was completed earlier in April. The project gave the first year Fuqua students the opportunity to get hands on experience with teamwork and leadership training in a real world environment during their time volunteering at the house.
The Durham Bulls contributed by dedicating money from ticket sales and a jersey auction at their home game on August 23, 2006. To learn more about At Bat for Habitat, click here.
