NC Spin Reaches 500th Episode Milestone

NC Spin logo The community affairs program NC Spin has crossed an impressive threshold.   The local half-hour talk show taped its 500th episode on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

Show Host and Creator Tom Campbell believes this makes history in North Carolina because there is no record of any statewide TV talk show lasting this long.

To offer some perspective, WRAL-TV Producer/Director Clarence Williams provided a few stats to give this milestone some perspective.  M.A.S.H., one of the highest rated TV shows ever, ran 11 seasons but had only 251 episodes.  All in the Family ran 9 seasons and had 202 episodes.  The Cosby Show had 201 shows in 8 seasons, and Seinfeld recorded only 180 shows in 9 seasons.  NC Spin has produced more episodes than any two of the most popular TV shows of all time combined.

This achievement was highlighted by an extravagant after show party at the home of Bruce and Theresa Kostrzewa-Tucker, one of the rotating panelists on the show.

“As I looked around the room and thought about each face and how each has been so much a part of NC SPIN I was truly humbled,” Campbell told the guests, which included panelists, sponsors, the WRAL-TV production crew and others.  “You are all too aware of some of the issues we have dealt with over the past ten years and have gone every step with us in them. I am proud of what NC SPIN has become and believe we really have played a part in shaping public policy debate, but you know all too well that our success is because of you and others who have made it so.”

He further stated, ” This achievement is your achievement too and I thank you, and appreciate you and am proud to call you friend.”

NC Spin airs across North Carolina via all of the CBC TV outlets and other stations. Visit NC Spin on the Web for times & dates in your area.
