Awards Season at the DBAP Bountiful for Richard

On the final weekend of the regular season, the Durham Bulls handed out the annual Goodmon and Media “Good Guy” Awards prior to the games on Friday and Saturday night, August 29 & 30, 2008. Bulls 1B Chris Richard proved to be an all-around Good Guy, taking two of the awards outright and splitting a third.
Richard won the Media “Good Guy” Award on Friday for his professionalism in dealing with the media, then won the Team Spirit Award and was named co-MVP during the Goodmon Awards presentation on Saturday. Along with serving as a leader in the clubhouse, Richard had a career season at the Triple-A level, batting .293 with 26 home runs and 88 runs batted in.

OF/DH Dan Johnson was the other co-MVP, batting .307 with 25 home runs and 83 RBI for Durham this year.
The community service award went to Durham Bulls catcher Josh Johnson. Josh Johnson served as the face of the Durham Bulls with programs such as Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army, while making regular visits to local hospitals to visit sick children.
The Pitcher of the Year was right-hander Mitch Talbot. For the second consecutive season Talbot has tied the Bulls Triple-A record with 13 wins in one season.
Finally, the Fan Favorite Award goes to Durham Bulls outfielder Fernando Perez. Perez kept the fans entertained with his impressive selection of intro music artists this season, including Stevie Wonder, the Flaming Lips, Ray Charles and Curtis Mayfield.
