World Class Women’s Billiards Comes to American Tobacco
The WPBA Carolina Classic Billiards Tournament

The world’s best women billiards players bring the Power of 9-Ball to Downtown Durham September 11-14!

Billiards at ATC A lucky few will see the power of 9-ball in person when 64 world class players invade Bay 7 on the American Tobacco Campus for the Carolina Classic Billiards Tournament.   Organized by the Women’s Professional Billiards Association, the Carolina Classic boasts a $95,000 purse and is one of 7 qualifying tournaments leading up to the Tour Championship in November in Hollywood, Florida.

Ewa Mataya Laurance (the Striking Viking), regarded as one of the sport’s true pioneers beginning in her native Sweden in 1981, will join the world’s best women billiards players including Jeanette Lee (the Black Widow) and North Carolina residents Allison Fisher and Kelly Fisher.  Kelly Fisher currently ranks #1 and holds the 2008 US Open 9-Ball Championship title.  

Billiards at ATCThe Carolina Classic includes:

  • Pre-Tournament ProAm contest with the WPBA’s top 12 players on Wed. Sept.10th, 7p-9p in Bay 7 on the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.  Proceeds to benefit the Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross.
  • Pre-Tournament Trick Shot Contest, including Ewa Mataya Laurance, also on Wednesday night, 8pm- 10pm, at the Green Room on Broad Street in Durham.  Proceeds t o benefit  Duke Children’s Hospital. $10 donation at the door.
  • Tournament play begins Thursday, Sept. 11th at 10am through Sunday, Sept. 14th. 
  • ESPN and ESPN 2 will record the championship match on Sunday for rebroadcast multiple times on the cable networks.

Session 3 – Match Times: 11:00AM, 12:45PM, 2:30PM & 4:15PM
Session 4 – Match Times: 7:00PM, 8:45PM, & 10:30PM
  Saturday, September 13th
7 Rounds in 2 Sessions
Ticket Price: $25.00 each session
Session 5 – Match Times: 11:00AM, 12:45PM, 2:30PM & 4:15PM
Session 6 – Match Times: 7:00PM, 8:45PM, & 10:30PM
  Final Tournament
Sunday, September 14th

3 Rounds in 1 Session

Session 7 – Match Times: 1:00PM, 3:00PM & 5:00PM
