Over the month of December, MIX 101.5 partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Campaign to help collect toys for needy children this holiday season.
MIX held four day-long radio remote broadcasts so that listeners could come out and drop off their donations. The drop off locations included Crabtree Valley Mall of Raleigh, Crossroads Plaza of Cary, Commons at University Place of Durham and the Streets of Southpoint Mall of Durham.
This year’s toy drive collected a total of 32 boxes of toys, two bicycles and $1,000 in monetary donations.

Toys for Tots was founded in 1947 by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Beginning in October and wrapping up in December, Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys for children ages 2-17 years old. During the week of Christmas the toys are distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. Toys for Tots Raleigh distributes toys to ten counties including Wake, Durham, Johnston, Sampson, Orange, Chatham, Franklin, Vance, Warren and Granville.
MIX 101.5 would like to thank everyone who helped to make this year’s Toys for Tots drives successful.
