Enloe Student & Son of WRAL Director Wins Regional Emmy
|
Enloe Senior Taylor Leslie, son WRAL-TV’s Shelly Leslie, has won a regional Emmy award in the student writing category. |
Taylor C. Leslie, a senior at Raleigh’s Enloe High School, brought home a regional Emmy award in the student writing category when the Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented its 7th Annual Regional Student Television Awards for Excellence.
Leslie, the son of WRAL News Creative Director Shelly Leslie, wrote a series of commercial spoofs called “Real Teachers of Genius.” He is one of seven winners among 68 entries across North Carolina and Tennessee.
Enloe student participants in the school’s Eagle Productions program have won 13 Emmys and been nominated 23 times in the past 13 years.
The awards are intended to encourage students to pursue excellence in television journalism.
“Many of the pieces that won could easily be shown, with pride, on broadcast television. And the academy can have no greater role in the industry than to foster the next generation,” said Geneva M. Brignolo, executive director of the academy’s Nashville chapter.
