Wolfpack Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Gary Hahn has written a story for the basketball version of Chicken Soup for the Soul. |
Capitol Broadcasting Company has several published authors among our ranks. Wolfpack Sports Marketing Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Gary Hahn is one of the most recent to join the book club. Hahn wrote a short story for Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inside Basketball.
Hahn’s tale is one of many inspirational short stories in the book that have a basketball theme.
“My story centers on an incident that happened in 1993 following a Wolfpack men’s basketball game,” explained Hahn. “It’s about former coach Les Robinson and how he handled adversity while staying extremely focused and obedient to his mission at State. That mission was to restore academic integrity to NC State men’s basketball. Les accomplished his mission, but it cost him his job because he wasn’t able to win enough games in the process.”
Orlando Magic owner Pat Williams compiled the book of 101 stories. He said he received a ton of stories and it was tough to get down to the magic 101 number. But Hahn made the cut.
“I wrote the story for two reasons,” said Hahn. “Les taught me a life lesson. Secondly, I don’t think Les has ever been given the appropriate credit for the sacrifice he made for NC State University.”
Some of the other contributors with Triangle ties include former UNC basketball player & coach Matt Doherty, and former Duke player and now NBA star Grant Hill.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inside Basketball hit store shelves in February 2009.
