The Northridge Country Club was perhaps the safest place to be on September 14, 2009. It was the site of the 2nd annual “First Responder’s Appreciation Breakfast” where the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with WakeMed, Progress Energy, Wachovia Bank and Capitol Broadcasting Co, Inc. honored area emergency workers.

The event, a breakfast and fundraiser to show the business community’s appreciation for the Raleigh Police, Wake Country Sheriff’s Office, Raleigh Fire Department, Wake County EMS and the Wake County Emergency Communication Center.

“We are extremely proud of these individuals who risk their lives to save others,” said WRAL-TV Producer/Director Clarence Williams, a member of the First Responder’s Task Force.  “This annual event is a token of that appreciation. We also were able to donate $19,500 to The 200 Club of Wake County.”

The event helped raise over $19,000 for The 200 Club of Wake County, in support of first responders.

The 200 Club of Wake County is an organization of concerned citizens dedicated to providing immediate financial help for the spouse and children of police officers, sheriff deputies, firemen, EMS squad members and North Carolina State Highway Patrol serving in Wake County who lose their lives in the line of duty.

“It truly seems as through the Task Force has been doing this for several years,” John Dorsey, Secretary/Treasurer of The 200 Club of Wake County, said of the event which is only two years old.  “As mentioned last year, the time and effort that went into planning the event was obvious – everything moved like clockwork. You are all to be congratulated for producing this wonderful event.”

He concluded, “Once again, thank you for your wonderful work and rest assured that the 200 Club will always strive to be worthy stewards of your generosity.”

The event was streamed live on wral.com and can be seen on demand. To learn more about The 200 Club of Wake County visit: www.200clubwakecounty.org
