Bulls Return as Hosting Sponsor for 3rd Annual Bull Moon Ride
|
The Durham Bulls recently announced the team will again serve as hosting sponsor for the 2010 Bull Moon Ride, a night time bicycle ride through Downtown Durham benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Durham. The ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 10th at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
“This has been a wonderful partnership,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “Considering all the people who participated last year, the Bull Moon Ride has truly become a can’t-miss event for the regional cycling community.”
The 2009 ride featured almost 600 cyclists generating more than $24,000 to help a local family buy a new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Durham. The riders enjoyed a mild summer evening seeing the sights of Downtown Durham followed by a party at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
“This will be the third year the Durham Bulls have served as the official site host sponsor for the Bull Moon Ride and for that we are grateful”, states Miguel Rubiera, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Durham. “The hospitality of Durham Bulls is the foundation of success of our bike rides. Starting and finishing at such a significant downtown landmark further highlights the uniqueness of this night ride which attracts riders of all ages and abilities while showcasing Durham.”
Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and communities by making home ownership possible in partnership with people who care. Founded in 1976, Habitat builds homes for working families whose living conditions are unsound, unsafe, or overcrowded. Habitat builds new homes and sells them at no interest. The no-interest loan, as well as donations of time and money, allows Habitat to offer affordable mortgage payments to families who don’t qualify for traditional mortgages.
