WRAL-TV’s Amanda Lamb has penned her third book, a crime novel about the Stephanie Bennett murder case. |
The latest crime novel by WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb, Evil Next Door, hit store shelves on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, and she’ll soon be having a variety of book signings & discussions around the Triangle.
Lamb’s latest chronicles the story of the murder of 23-year-old Stephanie Bennett in Raleigh. “Despite ample DNA evidence, investigators could find no matches” to solve this random crime.
Evil Next Door hit store shelves on April 6th. |
“I wrote the book because this was truly one of the most horrific crimes in Raleigh’s history,” said Lamb. “Stranger murders are rare. When it happened, the entire city was on edge. They had the best evidence in the world-DNA, but they didn’t have a suspect to go with it. It took some amazing police work by the Raleigh Police Department to solve the case.”
Lamb previously wrote Deadly Dose, a crime book about Eric Miller’s arsenic-poisoning by his wife, and a light-hearted honest look at motherhood entitled Smotherhood.
“I’m really excited about this book, my third, my second true crime, because it is written from many different perspectives,” Lamb said. “I interviewed more than a dozen people for the book, so instead of just being one voice, it incorporates many points of view. I think WRAL viewers who followed the case will learn many behind-the-scenes details that have never been reported.”
The Stephanie Bennett case took over three years to solve and was a mainstay in the news. Lamb reported on the case and now brings her coverage full circle with her book.
“I am always mindful of how lucky I am to be pursuing my dream of being a writer. That being said, writing and publishing a book is in many ways like giving birth. I hope to have a very big family!”
