The Durham Bulls are partnering with Lowes Food’s for their 16th annual food drive, Friends Feeding Friends. Donation barrels have been placed around the American Tobacco Campus, Diamond View I and Diamond View II surrounding the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. People are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food from now until November 28th at these locations.
“Lowes Foods is a great partner of ours and we are proud to work with them on their food drive,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “We encourage all of our fans to donate food to this important cause.”
This year, Lowes Foods is reaching for the goal of one million pounds to be collected in their stores across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. These donations will be delivered to local food banks in the areas in which they are collected.
Friends Feeding Friends is the largest food drive in North Carolina, and this will be the 16th year Lowes Foods stores have collected donations. Customers may purchase pre-made bags of non-perishable items most needed in the food banks in any Lowes Foods store. Donation bins are located in each store as well for quick and easy drop off. Customers may also choose to donate their fresh rewards cash coupons to the food drive as well.
Businesses and local schools are also involved in the donation efforts, raising awareness of the growing problem of hunger across the country. Local schools that partner with Lowes Food’s donation efforts have the opportunity to earn Campbell’s Labels for Education for their school.
