Tar Heel Titans CEOs of NC Tech Giants Reveal Secrets to Success in New WRAL Documentary Airs Thursday March 3, 2011, 7pm
|
What recession? If you listen to the CEOs of three of North Carolina’s largest technology companies you might never know that our state and nation have been struggling through a deep recession over the last few years. In a new WRAL documentary, “Tar Heel Titans,” the CEOs of Cree, Red Hat and SAS reveal how their companies earned billions while others went belly up. The program premiers Thursday, March 3, 2011, at 7:00pm and is hosted by WRAL News anchor Gerald Owens.
As the country slid into a deep recession in the fall of 2008, many North Carolina companies cut budgets, laid off employees and even went bankrupt. But Cree, Red Hat and SAS expanded operations, hired more employees and managed to each accumulate more than a billion dollars in cash reserves by the end of 2010.
In interviews with each company’s CEO, employees and customers, “Tar Heel Titans” goes behind the scenes to find out the secrets to their success.
The documentary looks at Cree’s innovations in LED lighting, Red Hat’s role in the world of open source software and SAS’s leadership in the development of analytical software.
The documentary also looks at what the success of these three companies means for our state’s economic future.
