WRAL-TV Mobilizes Disaster Relief for Victims of North Carolina Tornadoes Sister Television and Radio Stations of Capitol Broadcasting Participating TV Special to be Simulcast Statewide on UNC-TV

WRAL-TV and Capitol Broadcasting, along with UNC-TV, have mobilized their full resources to help the thousands of families impacted by Saturday’s tornadoes.
On Wednesday, April 20th, WRAL-TV will air “Here to Help Disaster Relief,” an all-day fundraising event from its Raleigh studios. The cash donations raised stays local and will fund the efforts of the Triangle Red Cross, Samaritan’s Purse, the North Carolina Baptist Men and the Salvation Army of Wake County. Dozens of volunteers will staff phone banks from 6:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m.
On WRAL-TV, newcasts and live cut-in’s throughout the day will highlight “Here to Help” efforts throughout the affected areas. Then at 7:00 p.m. WRAL-TV will air a live, one-hour television special “Here to Help Disaster Relief.” That program will be simulcast throughout the state on:
- FOX50 – Durham
- WJZY – Charlotte
- WILM – Wilmington
- UNC-TV – Statewide

MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM will broadcast live from the WRAL-TV studios 5:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. and offer telethon coverage throughout the day.
99.9 FM The Fan ESPN Radio will broadcast live from the WRAL-TV studios 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and offer telethon coverage throughout the day.
“Saturday, WRAL-TV provided incredible life-saving coverage as the storms ripped through the State, said Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel. “Now with the funds we will raise, we hope to provide some comfort and relief to the thousand of friends and neighbors whose lives have been devastated by the storms.”
