WRAL-TV News Production Manager James Ford |
The Mid-South Regional of the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) recently elected WRAL-TV News Production Manager James Ford as a member of their Board of Governors.
NATAS Executive Director Geneva Brignolo, with whom Ford has worked for years as an entrant in the Mid-South Emmy Awards competition, asked Ford to serve this new post. When a Regional Vice President recently vacated his post, she suggested Ford run for the position. He agreed and is now beginning a two-year term on the board, quite an honor.
“This is both an honor and testament to James’ commitment to NATAS,” said WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall. “He’s been instrumental in our awards process for many years, and he himself has won several Emmys. I’m confident he’ll be a great addition to the NATAS board for this region.”
A native of Virginia, Ford earned his B.A. in Radio-TV Mass Communications & a minor in Biology from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. He began his professional career with WRAL-TV in October 1984 as an intern. He worked his way into a variety of positions from Production Crew to Newscaster Director to Supervising Director to his current position of News Production Manager.
Over the years Ford has racked up seven Emmy Awards and 32 nominations from the NATAS Mid-South region, and various other awards for his leadership.
