American Tobacco’s Bay 7 is garnering top honors in the Triangle. |
American Tobacco is again racking up awards. Recently Bay 7 won the Best Educational Venue from the Greater Triangle NC Chapter of the International Special Event Society (ISES) and won the Best Even Space category of Durham Magazine’s Best of Durham honors. Several ATC restaurants got mentions in the magazine as well.
A Great Meeting Place
In January 2011, American Tobacco hosted the monthly meeting for the Greater Triangle NC Chapter of ISES in Bay 7. Recently local members voted it the best host property for their educational meetings. Geoff Manthorne, Executive Sous Chef, Charm City Cakes, Baltimore, MD served as speaker, and part of the Ace of Cakes team worked on the food. Several Triangle bakers were on site to demonstrate their cake decorating skills and exhibit and discuss current baking and dessert trends at events.

Durham Readers Choose American Tobacco
Bay 7 also got top ranking in Durham Magazine’s first-ever reader poll as the Best Event Space. Here’s what the magazine had to say:
“This urban-chic gathering space that can accommodate up to 400 people has become an epicenter of activity in downtown. It place host to everything from weddings to trade shows to corporate seminars. Patrice Nelson says she frequently finds herself at Bay 7 for various functions. “Having your event at Bay 7 says you are progressive and state of the art but also a bit cool and funky! I love it.”
Several other ATC entities made the list. Tyler’s Taproom took top honors for Best Beer Selection and an honorable mention for Best Burger. Burt’s Bees won out for Best Cosmetics, and the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) won Best Live Performance Venue and Best Place for Live Music.
