MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM Hosts Backpack Buddies Food Drive August 18
Radio Station Collecting Food Items for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Program

MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM will host its annual BackPack Buddies Food Drive Thursday, August 18th to help the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle (IFFS).
The drive will run from 6am until 6pm. Donations can be made at two different locations: Cary’s Crossroads Plaza and Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh.
MIX 101.5’s Backpack Buddies Food Drive is a joint effort between WRAL-FM and IFFS. The BackPack Buddies program provides weekend meals for children in need. Last year WRAL-FM, their listeners and other donors helped IFFS add more than 193 children to IFFS’ BackPack Buddies program – a 22% increase!
Over 91,000 children in a 7-county region rely on on free or reduced school lunches. The BackPack Buddies program provides backpacks filled with enough food for 6 healthy meals and 2 healthy snacks that kids take home weekends. The empty backpacks are collected after the weekend and refilled.

Backpack Buddies Challenge
MIX is encouraging listeners to take the challenge. The group who donates the most funds/food/packpacks will be awarded the coveted 2011 BackPack Challenge Award, experience the great feeling of making a difference in children’s lives, an interview on WRAL-FM, and bragging rights.
