The Great American Tobacco Duck Race, now in its 5th year has generated over $100,000 collectively for area non-profits.
The Durham Bulls helped out with a capcom story about Explorer Post 50 we ran last week:
Today capcom takes a look at the Durham Literacy Center
The Durham Literacry Center (DLC) works to increase the number of literate adults in Durham by delivering the best possible literacy services to Durham’s English and non-English speaking adults and teens who want to empower their lives through literacy.
The DLC works to assist these teenagers and adults in achieving personal goals and experiencing positive life change through increased literacy. They help this group gain the reading and writing skills, English language skills, and educational credentials (GED) needed to earn a living wage. In addition, the DLC is increasingly seeking ways to integrate technology and computer literacy into their instructional programs to enhance their students’ capacity to achieve their goals.
