October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many of Capitol Broadcasting Company’s divisions are working to promote the cause.
WRAL-TV is promoting several events as the station hones it’s focus on breast cancer awareness for the month:
- WRAL-TV is supporting Komen’s annual PinkFest
PinkFest will be held on Sunday, October 9th at the Renaissance North Hills Hotel. It is an event to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, their family and friends. Survivors and their friends and families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of spa and beauty treatments, food, drinks, raffle prizes and giveaways.
- As part of WRAL-TV’s yearlong partnership with the Susan G. Komen Triangle Affiliate, the stations is airing a Komen PSA to promote breast health awareness during the month of October.
- Komen has been selected as one of the charities for Hockey Fights Cancer night on Tues, October 25th. Not only will the Hurricanes donate a portion of every ticket sale sold through the Komen portal on the Hurricanes website, the group that raises the most money for its organization through the ticket fundraising will be awarded a $3,000 grant from the NHL. The website of 99.9 The Fan and 620 The Buzz, www.espntriangle.com, has gone pink for the month of October, trading out its tradition red for a splash of color to support breast cancer awareness.
MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM is supporting the Pledge for Pink program. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, make the Pledge For Pink and show your support for the North Carolina Triangle Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
