WRAL-TV’s Bill Leslie has released A Midnight Clear: Christmas in Mitford for the holidays. |
WRAL-TV Anchor Bill Leslie once again brightens the musical Christmas landscape with a new holiday CD. A Midnight Clear: Christmas in Mitford includes 16 traditional & original Christmas songs inspired by author Jan Karon’s best-selling Mitford series.
“I LOVE this music!” said Karon. “It’s wistful and consoling – the perfect antidote to the bane of modern anxiety.”
On Saturday, December 10, 2011, Leslie will play a few songs from the new album and talk about the CD at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh. The presentation starts at 7pm.
Leslie created a video called December Dance with music from the album.
“December Dance was inspired by my own memories of a Christmas Eve church dance in Western North Carolina where I grew up,” explained Leslie.
The video features watercolors from Greensboro artist William Mangum.
“William graciously allowed us to use some of his art work to help capture the mood of mythical Mitford,” said Leslie.
Leslie says the music features “a strong cast of guest musicians mandolinist John Santa. John volunteered himself for this CD and I am glad he did. He said, ‘Every Christmas album needs a Santa!’”
The CD can be purchased online from Leslie’s webstore: http://www.billleslie.com/webstore.htm
Leslie previously released a Christmas album called Christmas in Carolina in 2005 which went to number two on the charts. See the full list of Leslie’s releases, including his Sept 2010 album Simple Beauty here.
