The theme for the event was Spotlight on Triangle Diversity.

Goodmon spoke after the awards presentation quoting Richard Florida, “Diversity is the key to the future success of our communities.”

He challenged the group to “wake up every morning mad about something.  Speak your truth about that and make sure people know what you think about it.”

“I know that makes people uncomfortable, but I decided somebody has to do it,” Goodmon said of speaking up.  “A while back I decided to speak truth to the justice.”
