WRAL-TV’s Laura Leslie & Bill Herroro, & CBC NMG’s Matt Burns were on hand to accept the award for Outstanding Media Organization.
“Choosing WRAL for this award was quite easy, given the remarkable in-depth political coverage that you and your colleagues have provided, especially in terms of state government” stated Bryan Warner of the N.C. Center for Voter Education.

The N.C. Center for Voter Education also cited, “With the dedicated work of technical crew and reporters such as Capitol Bureau Chief Laura Leslie, WRAL-TV has been a leading source for televised and online coverage of state and local politics. In 2011, WRAL.com provided extensive live video streaming of key legislative sessions and committee meetings, giving citizens across the state a first-hand, unfiltered look inside their General Assembly.”
At the ceremony, a brief video of the types of stories that the station presents was shown to illustrate the work of Leslie and the WRAL News team. View the video here.
