CBC New Media Group Vice President Jimmy Goodmon is following in his parent’s footsteps. He is working hard on behalf of the community and helping others and now his efforts have earned him a prestigious national award from the Salvation Army.
Goodmon received the Exceptional Service Award, a national honor which is the only award signed by the National Commander. The Wake County Corps nominated Goodmon through the National level of the Salvation Army.
Goodmon is currently serving as co-chair of the Army’s Campaign for Hope. The drive has raised almost $12 million to build a new Center of Hope for the Salvation Army. He is a long-time Board of Advisory member.
“He has been a part of The Salvation Army his entire life, and continues to show dedication and commitment to fulfilling the Army’s mission,” said Major Willis Howell, Salvation Army Divisional Commander, in the award presentation. “His commitment to the Army started as a child when he volunteered in our soup line on a weekly basis, played athletics at our community center, and joined our board as one of the youngest board members in our history. Tonight, we are pleased to recognize him with this honor and blessed that his commitment has continued for so many years.”
The Exceptional Service Award honors an individual for “unusual and/or significant achievements in quality and/or length of service in or for The Salvation Army, high moral character and integrity, compassionate response to human need.”
