Jazz on the Lawn Concert Celebrates 4th of July at American Tobacco FREE Lawn Events Continue at American Tobacco |
Come celebrate the 4th with American Tobacco with a FREE summer concert. John Brown and the Groove Shop Band are the second of two Jazz on the Lawn concerts this summer and headline on Independence Day 2012.
Firmly grounded in the heart of funk and rhythm and blues, John Brown and the Groove Shop Band is truly a powerhouse ensemble. A full 13-piece band featuring a horn section, rhythm section and singers, the group’s repertoire includes the music of the 70s and 80s from artists like Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, KC & the Sunshine Band, the Gap Band, Michael Jackson, Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, Tower of Power, and other music of that genre.
John Brown & the Groove Shop Band will get American Tobacco rocking for the 4th of July. |
This group is sure to get the crowd on its feet!
The music begins at 6pm under the water tower. Bring a chair or blanket and pick up dinner from one of American Tobacco’s great restaurants.
The 4th of July concert is the second of the brand new Jazz on the Lawn series this summer. Earlier in May the NCCU Jazz Ensemble played the other Jazz on the Lawn concert for 2012.
The Jazz on the Lawn Series is one of several FREE summer events at American Tobacco. Under the umbrella of the On the Lawn Presented by University Ford & Kia and Bull City Bucks line-up, the new Jazz on the Lawn Series joins the Back Porch Music Series, Movies on the Lawn, Pops for Pops on Father’s Day and another new feature Dance on the Lawn.
