Catcher Cow, designed by Morganton’s Michael Berley, sports a Durham Bulls jersey and Crash Davis’ #8. Catcher Cow will be on display at American Tobacco in CowParade North Carolina 2012 beginning August 19th. |
American Tobacco will soon be hosting a herd of cows. But don’t worry, the lawn will be safe. Eleven painted cows will be scattered throughout the campus for the CowParade, the world’s largest public art exhibit, beginning August 19, 2012.
The latest in the national CowParade series, CowParade North Carolina 2012 will feature more than 150 painted and costumed cows, according to the event organizers, all whimsically transformed by regional artists, professional and amateur, from life-sized “blank canvas” fiberglass cows. The stylized cows are set to begin grazing in high-trafficked public places throughout greater Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh in August.
CowParade North Carolina 2012 will benefit the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. After the three month display period, the cows will be auctioned off some online and some in a live event.
