WRAL Producer/Director Clarence Williams may just be a “Spectacular” man.
Williams is among 24 men nominated by Durham-based Spectacular Magazine for the publication’s Man of the Year award. An online voting process will determine eight winners in six categories, and they will be announced during a banquet June 13, 2013.
Williams is one of six nominees in the category of community service. The other categories are business and economic development, civil and human rights, education, health and emerging leader.
Williams, who has worked at WRAL for 46 years, volunteers with numerous organizations including the Interfaith Food Shuttle, Explorer scouts, Learning For Life programs that teach job skills and Catholic Prison Ministries. He also teaches nonprofit organizations how to develop and produce community television programs to advocate for their causes.
Williams is an adjunct instructor of broadcast journalism at Shaw University and St. Augustine’s University. He’s also a former Army Ranger and Vietnam veteran.
“I’m deeply humbled for the honor, especially considering the caliber of the nominees,” Williams said.
Vote online from May 8 to 28 at the magazine’s website.
