WRAL-TV Anchor Renee Chou

The new face of Raleigh’s most-watched morning news is one well-known to the market. Renee Chou is an Emmy award-winning journalist in her 9th year at WRAL. She takes over the co-anchor seat on the Morning News after filling in for the last six weeks. Chou officially joins 30-year WRAL veteran anchor Bill Leslie, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner and traffic reporter Brian Shrader.

Chou joined WRAL as a reporter in 2004 and then moved to the weekend anchor desk. She’s covered everything from presidential elections, to N.C. military, to hurricanes and tornadoes. She’s known for her compassionate, people-focused reporting.

WRAL News Director Rick Gall says, “Renee has impressed us since she first came to WRAL. She’s adept at covering every kind of story. Her reporting is exemplary. Viewers tell us they connect to her and trust her in times of breaking news. She brings every skill that’s needed for Morning News.”

Chou says the new job is a dream fulfilled, “WRAL values and rewards hard work. I’m both appreciative and thrilled to permanently join the dynamic and energetic team that greets our viewers every morning. We take each day as an opportunity to get the day started on the right note for folks and have fun doing it.”

WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel, “Renee is an active volunteer and positive presence in our community. She’s so authentic and personable, a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of person, someone who really fits in with our established morning team.“

Renee will anchor the mornings 4:30-7:00 on WRAL and the 8:00-9:00 hour on sister station FOX 50 with Michelle Marsh.
