The Raleigh-Durham market clearly loves Lynda Loveland. When WRAL-TV announced her return to the anchor desk, the response was overwhelming.
Loveland will co-anchor WRAL News on FOX 50 weekday mornings 7:00 – 9:00 with Michelle Marsh. She will also report and fill-in anchor on WRAL.
It’s like she never left, really. Lynda Loveland worked in the WRAL Newsroom for ten years before leaving the anchor desk for a morning drive co-host spot on Capitol Broadcasting Company sister radio station MIX101.5 WRAL-FM. After five years at the radio mic, she’s ready to return to television.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be coming back to WRAL-TV! Not only is the name synonymous with news excellence, but for me, it also stands for family. I can’t wait to get back in the newsroom Friday morning,” says Loveland.
Judging by the response on social media, the Raleigh-Durham market is excited to see her back on television. The facebook pages of WRAL-TV, Fox 50, and MIX 101.5 exploded with comments of support. #WelcomeHomeLynda generated 259,561 impressions on twitter, where WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall broke the news.
Gall says, “Lynda is a seasoned journalist and talented anchor. She’s very well-known across the viewing area. For more than 15 years, she’s interacted and connected with people here. It’s great to have her back in the newsroom!”
WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel says, “This really is a welcome home feeling. We are fortunate to have Lynda and her talents re-joining our entire great morning Team.”
