MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM Welcomes New Morning Team

Julie & Gene Gates

Gene and Julie Gates will become the new MIX 101.5 weekday morning hosts with The Gene & Julie Show beginning Monday, July 28, 2014.

Capitol Broadcasting Company’s MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM has announced that a new, unique morning show is coming to the Triangle.

The Gene and Julie Show is smart, funny and real; elements we believe relate to the core MIX listener,” stated station general manager, Ardie Gregory.  “This is a proven morning show with great chemistry and a successful track record.  We know that personalities are a powerful asset for traditional radio and are very excited that Gene and Julie are joining us.”

“Having a morning show as talented as Gene & Julie is a Program Director’s dream come true and I’m counting the days until they join the MIX team,” said Barry Fox, MIX 101.5 program director.

Gene and Julie Gates met in 1995 and embarked on a personal and professional journey that led them to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta.  Most recently, the duo hosted mornings on the legendary KVIL in Dallas for 8 years, where they were the first show in thirteen years to return mornings to #1 in the ratings.

“We have learned so much and have so many great stories to tell,” said Gene Gates. “We can’t wait to start our new show in the Triangle!”

Having moved around since starting their broadcast career, Gene and Julie are excited to put down roots with their daughter Sophia and become an important part of the fabric of the Triangle.

“Since we’ve had our daughter, we’ve wanted nothing more than to stay in one place and immerse ourselves in that community,” said Julie Gates.

During The Gene & Julie Show, MIX 101.5 listeners will continue to receive WRAL-TV news and weather updates, as well as traffic reports with Vanna Fox.
