The Durham Bulls are gearing up to host the 2014 Cree Triple-A All-Star Game and have a line-up of exciting activities starting the weekend before the game. Four Bulls players are on the roster for the International League All-Star team, which will be coached by Bulls Manager Charlie Montoyo. The game will be televised live on MLB Network on Wednesday, July 16 at beginning at 7pm EST.
The League’s three first place teams, including the Bulls, lead the way this season with four All-Star representatives apiece. Montoyo will have four of his Bulls players join in him in front of the hometown fans in Durham. Outfielder Mikie Mahtook and designated hitter Wilson Betemit were elected to the team along with selected starting pitchers Merrill Kelly and Mike Montgomery.
The squad of 30 IL standouts will take on the Pacific Coast League’s best. The matchup will be broadcast live from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network.
The announcing team of Paul Severino, Darryl Hamilton, John Manuel, and Sam Ryan will bring the action to viewers nationwide. The Game will be available online to MiLB.TV subscribers live on MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball. The American Forces Network will also showcase the event, bringing MLB Network’s telecast of the Triple-A All-Star Game to the U.S. Armed Forces stationed outside the contiguous United States on U.S. military installations and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea.
While the Game has been telecast nationally for most of its 27-year history, including every season since 1995, this will be the fifth time the Triple-A All-Star Game has aired on MLB Network since 2010.
Patrick Kinas, play-by-play voice of the Durham Bulls, along with Deene Ehlis from the Iowa Cubs, will call the action for this year’s broadcast on the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network. The radio broadcast will be carried live on all 30 of the Triple-A flagship stations.
