Post 5 Teens Create Anti-Bullying PSA

The 2013-2014 Post 5 year has ended with another successful year.  We had a record number of members sign up from dozens of schools in the area, we had new and interesting presenters from the WRAL/FOX 50 family, and several teams produced outstanding PSAs.

FOX 50 Creative Services Director Kevin Kolbe headed up the creative process for the PSA project and focused the group on anti-bullying messages.

Before you watch the winner, you may need some context.  Since these messages are targeted at teenagers, we need to know the issue this spot was addressing.  The app Vine has become big with young people.  With it you can post your own six-second “movie.”  There are all kinds of videos available, but apparently far too many disturbing clips showing kids bullying others are showing up.  This spot parodies the graphic look of the app to deliver a powerful message.

WRAL and FOX50 will be airing the spot as part of the Character Matters project, and planning is already underway for next year with the 2014-2015 executive committee.

Thanks to WRAL-TV’s Jim Rothschild for this capcom story.
