American Underground is growing again.  The startup support hub that started in the basement of American Tobacco and then added locations in the downtowns of both Durham and Raleigh is now doubling its footprint in downtown Durham.

“Over the past six months, teams in the American Underground have created 122 new jobs and raised $2.2m in new funding,” said American Underground Chief Strategist Adam Klein.

With the expansion of the @Main Street location in downtown Durham, American Underground is providing space for another 50 startup companies.

“It is a privilege for the American Underground team to support the growth of our region’s entrepreneurs,” said Klein.  “We believe in Durham and the Triangle’s future as the entrepreneurial hub of the South.”

Dubbed “North Carolina’s Central Station for Ascending Entrepreneurs,” American Underground is one of eight Google for Entrepreneurs Tech Hubs in North America and home to 150+ startups, investors, university offices, and more.
