Defending Champions Open August with Four-Day Home Series against Buffalo
The first-place Durham Bulls return to Downtown Durham this Thursday, August 7, 2014, to begin the final full month of the regular season. Thursday’s homestand opener will feature a doubleheader against the Buffalo Bisons, who will be in town through Sunday. The promotional slate is highlighted by an appearance from the Russian Bar Trio, two fireworks shows, Military Appreciation Night and Negro League Night.
On Thursday, August 7, the Bulls welcome the Buffalo Bisons for a weekend series that will feature five games in four days. The teams open the series with a doubleheader, as they make up the July 13th game in Buffalo that was rained out. The first of two seven inning games will begin at 6:05pm and game two will follow a 30 minute break. A ticket to Thursday’s game, presented by Rex Goliath, serves as admission for both games of the doubleheader. Fans will be entertained that night by the Russian Bar Trio, a group of jaw-dropping acrobats who are back at the DBAP by popular demand.
At all Thursday home games, fans can enjoy $1 Bright Leaf hot dogs, popcorn and fries. In addition, Thursdays are College Nights where students can get a Terrace Reserved ticket and $5 in Bulls Bucks for just $11 or an Outfield Reserved ticket for only $5.99 by entering the promo code COLLEGE (and using a valid .edu email address) when purchasing tickets online at durhambulls.com. Finally, fans take advantage of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC True Blue Thursday promotion, where they can get a game ticket and exclusive cap for just $11.
The series with the top affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays continues on Friday, August 8 when Kangaroo Express presents Military Appreciation Night. Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Duke Energy, follow the 7:05pm contest.
Beginning on August 9, all remaining Saturday home games will also feature postgame fireworks. The first Saturday night fireworks show is presented by Triangle Orthopaedic Associates. First pitch on the 9th is at 7:05pm.
Sunday’s series finale will feature the Bulls’ annual Negro League Night. Before the game, twenty local Negro League legends will be honored in an on-field ceremony. Durham’s Negro Leaguers will then sign autographs for fans on the concourse. Following the 5:05pm game, Kids Run the Bases thanks to Nature’s Twist.
