Mother Nature put the kibosh on the 2015 FOX 50 Family Fest and Great American Tobacco Duck Race, but the Ronald McDonald Houses of Raleigh and Durham still benefited from the planned event. Triangle rubber duck race lovers still purchased ducks to support the worthy non-profit. Three lucky ducks won prizes in a drawing held the Monday after the scheduled date for the events.
“We did a Duck Race Sweepstakes Drawing in place of the actual Duck Race since the event was cancelled,” explained FOX 50 Special Revenue Projects Manager Sylvia Lanier. “People could purchase ducks online and at the following retail locations – Johnson Automotive, Frontier Communications, most Durham area McDonald’s locations and at the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. The deadline was 11:59 Sunday, October 11, 2015. A random sweepstakes drawing took place on October 12, 2015.”
Here are the big winners for the individual ducks and the great prizes they won:
1st Place: Francisca Ocharo
FIRST PLACE PRIZE: A Carolina Hurricanes Jersey, autographed by the team, two tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes vs the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, November 22, 2015, including one parking pass, a $100
American Tobacco Gift Certificate good at any one of the American Tobacco Restaurants,
a FOX 50 Tee Shirt, and a Lucky Duck Commemorative Plaque.
2nd Place: Vicki Boyko
SECOND PLACE PRIZE: Two Duke Men’s Basketball tickets (game TBD), a $50 American Tobacco Gift Certificate good at one of the American Tobacco Restaurant Restaurants, a FOX 50 Tee Shirt, and a Lucky Duck Commemorative Plaque.
