Fireworks, Mother’s Day Celebration Also Scheduled at the DBAP
The Durham Bulls will open a seven-game homestand at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Monday, May 8. The week will feature the team’s annual Star Wars Night, a Trucks, Beats & Brews event, Friday Night Fireworks, a Mother’s Day celebration and free tickets to select games for teachers and educators.
The homestand opens on Monday, May 8 at 7:05 p.m. against the Columbus Clippers, and game two of the four-game set against the Cleveland Indians’ top affiliate will take place at the same time on Tuesday, May 9.
On Wednesday, May 10, gates will open at 5 p.m. for that evening’s 7:05 p.m. first pitch, as the DBAP will play host to its second Trucks, Beats & Brews event. The Diamond View plaza in rightfield will be packed with food trucks and craft beer tents, while The Clifton Brothers will play a 60-minute set of live music. Local food trucks in attendance will be Chick-n-Que, American Meltdown, Only Burger, Rolling Bistro, Belgian Waffle Crafters, Mac-Ur-Roni, Locopops and Cousins Maine Lobster.
Additionally, the week of May 8 is national Teacher Appreciation Week, and to celebrate the Bulls are offering all teachers and educators a free ticket to games on either May 8, May 9 or May 10. These tickets can only be redeemed by showing a school ID at the DBAP’s Frontier Communications Ticket Office. Teachers and educators can select either Terrace View or Outfield Reserved seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
The series with the Clippers will wrap on Thursday, May 11 at 10:35 a.m. with the season’s second Education Day, presented by BASF. Gates will open at 9 a.m. for the morning contest.
On Friday, May 12 the Bulls open a three-game series with the Toledo Mud Hens at 7:05 p.m., presented by EmergeOrtho. Following that night’s game will be a Friday Night Fireworks show, presented by bioMerieux. Friday is also Nurse Night, as all nurses and medical professionals can purchase a Terrace View ticket and Durham Bulls scrubs for $15.99, or an Outfield Reserved seat and scrubs for $13.99 using the promo code SCRUBS.
The team’s annual Star Wars Night will be held on Saturday, May 13, when fans will have the opportunity to take photos and interact with Star Wars characters throughout the game. The Bulls will wear specially-designed BB-8 uniforms for the occasion, and before and during the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off online with all proceeds benefiting the Autism Society of North Carolina. The game, presented by Michael & Son, will begin at 6:35 p.m.
The homestand comes to a close with the final contest of a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate. That night’s 5:05 p.m. game, presented by Bayer, will feature a Mother’s Day celebration, and following the game Kids and Moms Run the Bases presented by Nature’s Twist.
