MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM launched a brand new event that left the crowds hungry for more. The first annual Savor the Triangle Food Festival went down as a huge success, raising $10,000 for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle with 30 local restaurants and vendors participating.
“What a great night!” said WRAL-FM Promotions Director Jason Newton. “We had well over 500 attendees and the stars of the show were the restaurants, they brought their A game to the table. It was a team effort to make the event a success and I look forward to next year and many more to come!”
The event took place on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, from 6-9pm at the Kerr Scott Building on the NC State Fairgrounds. The evening included endless food, shopping and from the Triangle’s hottest restaurants, breweries and wineries.
Savor the Triangle was a first in more ways than one for WRAL-FM Promotions Coordinator Molly Donovan. This was the first major event she has worked since joining the station.
“I’ve been with MIX for four months, and I don’t think I truly understood our reach as a station until people started arriving,” said Donovan. “I was so blown away by our turnout —and it’s only the first year!”
She enjoyed helping make this inaugural event happen for MIX.
“My favorite part of the event was actually getting the restaurants set up before we opened the doors,” she said. “Jason and I split up logistical duties for the past few months leading up to Savor, and my main project was communicating with all of the restaurants — making sure they were ready and excited, answering their questions, etc. — so helping them get ready was kind of the culmination of everything. And the food was good, too!”
