UPDATE:

Due to Hurricane Dorian, federal authorities have postponed the day you will need to rescan your television if you watch WRAL using an antenna.

The day has been pushed to Wednesday, Sept. 11.

rescan channelsIf you watch WRAL using an antenna, you’ll need to rescan your TV on Sept. 6.

On that day, WRAL and nearly 1,000 television stations across the country are required to move frequencies to make room for wireless internet broadband services.

A rescan will allow your TV antenna to automatically adjust to the change and keep you watching WRAL News, The Voice and all of your NBC favorites. The change is happening behind the scenes, so the channel number where you find WRAL over the air will not change.

With your remote, choose the Setup or Menu button, then select Scan or Autotune. The process takes about 5 minutes, and you may discover more channels than you knew you had.

Viewers don’t need any new equipment or services. If you watch WRAL on cable, satellite or a streaming service, you don’t have to do anything.

All across the country, TV stations will be moving frequencies on different dates.
