NC Broadcast Legend Week Proclamation
NC Governor Roy Cooper has declared the week of August 2, 2021, as NC Broadcast Legend Week in North Carolina, citing a list of pioneers including CBC CEO & Board Chairman Jim Goodmon and former long-time WRAL Anchor Charlie Gaddy.

NC Governor Roy Cooper has declared the week of August 2, 2021, as NC Broadcast Legend Week in North Carolina, citing a list of pioneers including CBC CEO & Board Chairman Jim Goodmon. Retired WRAL Anchor Charlie Gaddy is on the list as well.

Both Goodmon and Gaddy participated in the NC Broadcast Legends project with PBS North Carolina, an endeavor to collect and preserve the stories of television and radio leaders, past and present.  A series created for PBS North Carolina includes a half-hour studio interview with each participant as well as two one-hour roundtable discussions recorded with the group of broadcasters.  Goodmon, Gaddy and the other selected legends shared stories of North Carolina’s broadcast history as well as their own history and experiences.  Mike Weeks served as producer and host.

The NC Broadcast Legend TV Series aired in 2020 on UNC-TV and is being presented in 2021 in its’ entirety on PBS North Carolina’s NC Channel beginning Tuesday, August 3 at 8:30pm.  The program will continue airing every Tuesday at 8:30pm for fifteen consecutive weeks with a number of repeat broadcasts throughout the week of each scheduled program.
