CBC’s Follow The Truth Podcast recently released a new episode and is proving its ability to attract listeners. CBC Audience Development General Manager Shelly Leslie and WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb, the podcast’s executive producer and host, respectively, have been making the rounds, interviewing and sharing about the process behind the 10-part series.
For the week of Aug 4-11, Follow the Truth has taken its debut position at #2 on Chartable’s Global: True Crime Trending and US: True Crime Trending charts. The podcast also has debuted at #5 on the US: All Podcasts Trending chart.
The Why Behind The Podcast
Follow the Truth is an in-depth follow up to CBC’s 5-part docuseries Moment of Truth.
Leslie spoke to Market Share’s Paul Greeley for an article on TVNewsCheck.
She told Greeley how the podcast evolved from the streaming docuseries: “The podcast is the rest of the story…The intimacy of audio allows us to take listeners deeply into the lives of all the central characters in this real-life tragedy.”
Greeley delved into the purpose behind putting this particular project together.
“Leslie says the docuseries — and now the podcast — is an exploration by Capitol Broadcasting to see if the two media can lead the company to new audiences and revenue,” he wrote.

Sharing the Process
Lamb has been interviewing about the experience of putting together the podcast as well. She talked to 99.9 The Fan Sports Talk Host Adam Gold on Wednesday, August 18.
“If you would ever told me that I would end up doing interviews on sports radio, I would’ve told you you were crazy!” she said. “I grew up around sports, and I am a fitness nut, but I’ve never been well-versed in any particular sport. But for the Follow the Truth Podcast , I had to learn about the world of professional basketball. I really appreciate being interviewed by Adam Gold for his show on 99.9 The Fan this week. He’s a true pro in his field.”

I’ll warn you everything you thought you knew about this case, well it’s going to be turned upside down in the next few episodes.”
WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Renee Chou interviewed Lamb on WRAL’s Morning News on Aug 19.
