Capitol Broadcasting’s new 24/7 local television station is now on cable. WRAL Sports+ debuted on Spectrum on March 9, 2022, with most of the local market on channel 1257. A few small legacy Charter lineups will be 682.
WRAL Sports+ launched over-the-air and on digital on January 4.
WRAL Sports+ Executive Producer Louis Fernandez is heading up the new local sports news venture for CBC. He shared his excitement for the many arenas of coverage, games and news the channel is providing:
Just two months into WRAL Sports+ and we’ve already learned so much. Our combination of syndicated sports programming, live events and original content is growing, giving sports fans of all kinds in the area a great place to call home.
The simulcasts with The Sports Shop, The Adam Gold Show and the OG have been dynamic and podcasts like Culture State and Courage on the Pitch have made a seamless transition to a more visual medium. Sports specials have been a great outlet as well, including a 30-minute pregame and an hour and a half postgame after the second Duke/UNC matchup.
Live sporting events have been appointment viewing as well, with wild comebacks from NCCU basketball, dominating performances from NC State hockey and an exciting ACC Hockey League tournament. We’re not stopping there, we’ll be adding even more content: Charlotte FC matches, Durham Bulls home games, plus Courage and NCFC matches.
It’s just the beginning, but we can’t wait for what’s to come.
WRAL-TV News Producer Stephanie Beck was proud to be part creating the first program solely for the new channel.
“Last week, I was part of the first production specifically for our new station, WRAL Sports+,” she shared. “It debuted on Spectrum this week and is available online and over the air. Great job by everyone involved, and you can look forward to the teamwork bringing you strong local sports programming moving forward!”
WRAL Sports+ is over the air on channel 34.1 locally and is available on digital wherever you get your WRAL News streaming channel.
