The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s journalism school pulled off a big surprise for CBC CEO & Board Chair Jim Goodmon. The state-of-the-art studio in the Curtis Media Center is now named for him, in a nod to his contributions to the school. The official name is the James F. Goodmon Studio.
The naming came as a surprise to Goodmon.
The A.J. Fletcher Foundation tweeted, “Thanks to @UNCHussman for the wonderful surprise yesterday for our Chairman, Jim Goodmon. We’re grateful for our partnership and excited for the many future journalism leaders whom will learn and grow in this beautiful new space.”
The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media also tweeted the good news:
“We’re smiling because we surprised the studio’s namesake with a lunchtime celebration of family, friends and school leaders who recognized the lasting impact on #UNCHussman made over decades by the Goodmon family, @CBCCorporate and the @AJFfoundation.”
