2022 Black Founders Exchange at American Underground Open for Applications

Black Founders Exchange

Applications for the seventh annual Google for Startups Black Founders Exchange are now open. This week-long immersion program at American Underground in Durham, NC is designed to move companies with a high-growth, scalable model from initial product to successfully raising seed capital with their business.

AU Director of Programs Garry Lyon explained how the program came about.

“In 2016, AU approached Google For Startups with this idea, and it’s been a mutual partnership ever since!” he said.  “The last two years were virtual, but we’re back in person this year since 2019.”

This program empowers Black founders by providing curated community, connections, and content designed to build sustainable, revenue producing companies. Alumni companies have raised over $30M in venture capital following the program.

Lyons is excited about having this program at American Underground.

“Black Founders Exchange is a strong network of founders supporting one another as they build and grow sustainable, revenue-generating businesses,” he said.  “We’re able to level the playing field with supporting teams where they are and helping them get to the next level. This program lines up perfectly with our mission at AU and the work we’re committed to doing.”
